After-School between 3:00PM-5:00PM

Where am i allowed?

• Basketball Courts 
• Lobby outside basketball courts
• Y Café
• Stairway by basketball court lobby leading up to track and the track
• Restrooms across from golf simulator
• The Wellness Center if you are 15 or have completed the Youth Cert Class
• Tech Lounge on 2nd floor

Where am I Not Allowed?

• Back stairs to the 2nd level
• Kennen Center
• Locker rooms
• Pool
• Playground
• Classrooms
• No Loitering around entrance and exits of building
• Overlook outside upstairs bathrooms

What Should I know?

• You must know and abide by all building policies. Read the posted rules.
• Wear appropriate indoor footwear to play in the gym.
• If you leave the building without getting permission from the front desk before 5:00 PM, you may not return until after 5:00 PM without your parent or guardian.
• You may enjoy a free afterschool meal in the Y Café.

What should I do if I am having a bad day or someone is not treating me appropriately?

If you are having a bad day or being treated inappropriately, seek out the first Y staff member you find or one you feel comfortable talking with and explain what is happening. Do not take matters into your own hands. 

How should I behave?

• Behave in a friendly, courteous, respectful, and non–threatening manner toward all other members, fellow students, and Y staff.
• Respect the Y facility, furnishings, and equipment. Do not damage or abuse Y property.
• Respect the property and personal space of others, by keeping your hands off and not disturbing their person or things.
• Be cooperative with the Y staff at all times, follow directions and answer their questions.
• Anything more than hand holding by couples is not acceptable in the Y.
• You are expected to walk in the hallways, use appropriate language and keep volume low outside of the gym so that staff can continue to work and all patrons can use the facility comfortably.
• Y staff will not tolerate cussing, disrespect or bullying.

What happens if I can’t follow the rules?

You will receive a referral by a staff member and consequences are based on the severity and frequency of your actions. Could be a warning, asked to leave for the day, be suspended for a length of time, or membership terminated.

This building is not exclusive to middle schoolers. All members have the right to a safe and inviting environment while they’re here.

Staff is not available to monitor middle schoolers during after school hours. If your student is involved or appear to be involved in breaking any of these rules they may be asked to leave.

Middle School Students Things to know:

Middle School GUIDELINES

These guidelines are in addition to our normal building policies and will be in effect for all Middle School Students until 5:00PM on school days.

1. Food and snacks must be eaten in the Y Cafe', drinks outside the Y Cafe' must be in resealable containers.
2. Students are expected to throw all trash away and clean up any mess they make.
3. Middle School Students are only allowed upstairs to walk or run on the track or use the tech room. All other upstairs areas and activities are off limits as well as the back stairwell.
4. Middle School Students are not allowed in the Kennen Center.
5. Non-marking soft-soled shoes with closed toes and heels must be worn on the basketball courts.
6. REMINDER: You must be 15 years old or have completed the "Youth Certification Class" after turning 12 years old to utilize the Wellness Center.
7. Students are only allowed to sit and congregate in the gym and Y Café and back hall couches. All other areas are off limits, including the front desk area.
8. The locker rooms are OFF LIMITS.
9. Running anywhere other than the gym or track is prohibited.
10. Chasing, cursing, playfighting, rough play, bullying or any other kind of unruly behavior will not be tolerated.
11. If you exit the building after you have already checked in, you may not re-enter the building until after 5:00 PM.



FAILURE TO ABIDE BY THESE RULES, SHOW DISRESPECT OR NOT FOLLOW ALL Y STAFF DIRECTION AND ALL OTHER YMCA POLICIES COULD RESULT IN SUSPENSION OR TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP.
